A relay lens, also known as an extension lens, is an optical lens designed for imaging detection, as shown in Figure 1. The optical principle of a relay lens is to generate an enlarged virtual image of objects (actual detection targets) at a greater distance.
In traditional camera module imaging detection, a large space distance is required for far-focus testing. Moreover, as the field of view (FOV) angle of the camera module increases, the size of the target object (usually a test card) also becomes larger. Therefore, a larger space is needed for the entire testing environment, which may be difficult to achieve. Using a relay lens can compress this larger space into a smaller one, and the size of the detection target also becomes smaller. This achieves a significant reduction in testing distance, lowering detection costs and space requirements.
