Endoscope 18% Neutral Gray Test Chart--For Endoscope Image Quality Testing with Reference to YY/T 1587 and YY/T 1603

ColorSpace has developed the CS-ECTS Series Endoscope Test Charts for medical and industrial endoscope imaging systems. The CS-ECTS-TC01 Endoscope 18% Neutral Gray Test Chart is designed in accordance with relevant test methods specified in YY/T 1587-2018 and YY/T 1603-2018. It provides a standardized test target for evaluating endoscope imaging performance, including brightness response, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), spatial frequency response (SFR), and static image tolerance.

YY/T 1587-2018, Medical Endoscopes — Video Endoscopes, specifies performance requirements and test methods for electronic endoscopes, including brightness response, signal-to-noise ratio, spatial frequency response, and static image tolerance. Appendix A specifies the use of a spectrally neutral gray-scale test chart for brightness response testing. The relevant tests are performed together with the specified illumination, luminance measurement, and image acquisition equipment.

The test chart features an 18% neutral gray test area, providing a standardized gray-level target for endoscope imaging performance testing. When used with appropriate test illumination, luminance measurement equipment, and image acquisition devices, it can support the acquisition of image response data under different object luminance conditions and the analysis of brightness response, SNR, SFR, and static image tolerance according to the applicable test methods.

For spatial frequency response testing, the relevant methods in YY/T 1587-2018 and YY/T 1603-2018 specify the use of sine-wave star targets. An 18% transmission or reflectance background is an important parameter of the relevant SFR test target. The TC01 can therefore be used as a standardized gray-level target within the corresponding test setup, together with the test target, illumination, and measurement procedures specified by the applicable standard.

The chart features a transmissive design and can be directly mounted on the CS-ECTS Endoscope Test System, providing a standardized setup for imaging performance testing of medical and industrial endoscopes.
