Exposure Time and Frame rate Test System Overview

In the process of image quality testing, it is often necessary to calibrate the conditions of the current lighting, which is often measured using a hand-held light meter. This process is cumbersome and expensive, because dimming and measurement cannot be performed at the same time, and it takes a long time to evenly adjust the illumination and reach the standard.

The ISOLight device is alternative method to solve this problem very well.  It can quickly measure the uniformity of illumination, and indicate whether it meets the standard illumination conditions, so that operators can focus on dimming.

The ISOLight multi-colored LED indicator, which can indicate the difference between the present illumination and the target value, whether it is within the tolerance range, or too high or too low. Make uniformity or illuminance easy to identify.

Two prompting modes of ISOLight

Illuminance tolerance range and uniformity tolerance range.

  • 1. Illuminance Tolerance Range - Illuminance can be displayed as LUX data, and the target value and tolerance range can be customized.
  • 2. Uniform Tolerance Range - By defining the color of the different LED halos, it can indicate whether the uniformity of light at the four corners, whether within tolerance or not.

Display color settings

Several user-selectable display settings are available

Illustration of Over-bright Mode in Over-dark Range

  • 1. Red/Green/Yellow, is suitable for most environments
  • 2. Red/Off/Yellow, is suitable for production environments. When the illumination is within the range, the LED lights are automatically turned off.
  • 3. Slow Red Flash/Green/Fast Red Flash, is suitable for use in particularly bright and bright environments.

Brightness control

LED ring lights are not easy to detect in a particularly bright environments, and can cause light pollution in particularly dark environments. So ISOlight offers two brightness control modes:

  • 1. Manual Control Mode
  • 2. Automatic Brightness Mode

In automatic brightness mode, the brightness of the LED light can be automatically adjusted to the appropriate brightness according to the surrounding environment.

Audio Frequency

Isolight can provide feedback on audio. When this feature is turned on, when the illumination of the four sensors reaches the standard at the same time, or fails to meet the standard, ISOlight will emit a clear sound.

LED Light Tracking Display

Used to measure time related parameters

Isolight includes 100 LED tracking lights. You can set the lighting duration of each LED. It can be used to measure image parameters related to time. Measurement range is from microseconds to minutes can be.

The duration of the LED tracking light can be set from 0.1ms to 1 second per level. The total duration is 10ms to 100 seconds. So you can test the camera's exposure time, or the frame rate of the video.

Highlighting of Convenient Points

In order to facilitate the number of LED lights taken by the point, you can set to highlight one LED every few cycles. For example, every four, every nine, every 33, and so on. This make it very easy to count.

Audio Output and Audio/Video Testing

ISOLight can generate a regular audio signal that is synchronized with the LED tracking light. This allows you to test the synchronization of audio and video.

Measuring static image parameters

  • 1. Exposure time – Set the duration of the LED tracking light to the appropriate step and then take the picture. The exposure time can be analyzed by the number of LED lights in the point image.

Measuring the time parameters of the video

  • 2. Frame rate – As above, the frame rate can be analyzed by counting the data of the illuminated LEDs in each frame of the image. The frame rate is calculated from the number of frames from one start frame (the first LED light is lit) to the next LED with the same position.
  • 3. Frame Rate Jitter - The duration from one frame to the next should be a constant. If the frame rate changes more than one LED, it indicates that the imaging system has significant frame rate jitter.
  • 4. Frame loss – Each LED is clearly visible in at least one frame. If an LED is missing in some frames, it represents a possible frame loss in the imaging system. You can evaluate the situation of missing frames.
  • 5. Audio and Video Synchronization - Analyze the performance of audio and video synchronization by analyzing the synchronization of audio information with LED video information. Leading or lagging indicates that the audio and video are out of sync.
  • 6. Auto Exposure – When adjusting the light level, turn on the LED light automatic brightness adjustment function, you can observe the change of frame and frame exposure time. This is very helpful in analyzing and analyzing changes in exposure time, which helps to analyze the convergence time of automatic exposure.
